Just for a quick update to those who are wondering about our well being during the bad weather in Perth on 22 Mar 2010.
The excitment started about 4+ in the evening. Everyone was home and we were getting ready for dinner. Suddenly, it started to rain heavily and lots of noises outside. We looked out of the window and found small ice cubes on the floor. It was hailstones. We were so worried that our Tarago would be damaged but luckily it was not.
Couple of minutes later, the power supply was cut. We took out all our torches, candles and tealights. Then the next worse thing happened. Rain water gushed into the kitchen floor from the top of the kitchen window. We rushed to throw all the towels we could find to soak the water up so that it would not flow into the pantry or other parts of the house. As we were cleaning up in the kitchen, rain water started to come into the living room via the top of the window there as well. So we were busy mopping up the water in both areas for at least half an hour. We had to dine in the dark that night. We all had an early night since there was no electricity.
Next day, the weather is fine again. No more thunderstorm or rain. Kyrene's school was closed for a day. Apparently, they had numerous fallen trees in the school ground and some of the playgrounds were damaged. The shopping centre opposite our house were affected too. Many of the shops also were closed that day.
The kids were really bored at home, especially since no power supply means no TV, computer, etc. When evening came, we were feeling stuffy and warm. Can't turn on fan because no power supply. We had candlelight dinner that night. Again, we all went to bed early since darkness everywhere.
We got back our power supply around midnight. Everyone was so happy that everything back to normal. Kyrene went back to school on Wed. The kids were all busy sharing about what happened at their homes and neighbourhood.
So that's our story...
