Chinese Mid Autumn Festival

Kyrene was having her 2 weeks school holidays break earlier this month (26Sep to 11Oct) and we had some visitors from Singapore who stayed with us. The holidays were spent driving around places, shopping, picnics, etc...

The lunar mid autumn festival fell on 3 Oct this year. We had yummy mooncakes (Hong Kong's Mei Xin and Malaysia's Seasons) and the kids carried lanterns out in the patio at the back of the house.

Spring in Perth

We are enjoying spring in Perth at the moment. This year, the weather is not as cold as last year. We went to Aruluen Botanical Park to see tulips again this year. It was so sunny and warm that day, as you can see from the pictures. Unlike last year where we wore thick warm clothings, this year, we could don our summer clothings much earlier.

Only worry is that if spring is so warm now, can't imagine how hot it is going to be in summer. And the flies seem to be early too.

Rockingham Foreshore

Every now and then when we feel like driving somewhere further out, we would end up at Rockingham. It is less than an hour drive. What do we do there? One of the kids' favourite is to go to the stretch of playgrounds along the Rockingham Foreshore. The kids love to get onto the swing as you can see in the pics.

Other than playgrounds, the other things we do over there are shopping, eating and having afternoon tea. The beaches there are nice too.

Our recent trip down south

On the weekend of 22nd Aug, we last minute decided to drive down south to Margaret River region. We left on Saturday morning, stopover at Bunbury for lunch, and then headed to Dunsborough to stay for 1 night. Next day, we checked out and drove to Margaret River for a short while, then headed towards Donnybrook. We stopped for about an hour at Donnybrook so that the kids can play at the big playground called Apple Fun Park. We arrived back at Perth after dinner time.

Another fav hang out spot

Woodman Point near South Fremantle is one of our fav hang out. We like to go there for picnic or bbq, got lots of space for the kids to run around, a playground, and nearby is a jetty that can do fishing.

Below is a seal that often visits the jetty in the afternoon, probably trying to get free meal from the people fishing there.

Mandurah

Mandurah is a town that is not too far from Perth, probably about an hour drive. During weekends, sometimes on Sunday after church, we would drive to the town for fish and chips, shopping or the playgrounds.
Just on the outskirts of Mandurah, there's Abingdon Miniature Village (off Pinjarra Road). It is a small garden where there is a display of miniature historic building of the UK, a maze for the kids to explore, a small playground, BBQ area and mini golf.
